Workshop Series – Vocabulary

Abstract

In recent years, how to help students learn and use authentic vocabulary patterns has posed a big challenge for English teachers. Traditional tools (e.g., textbooks, dictionaries, other published materials, etc.) and teachers’ intuition, may not be sufficient to fully address this issue. This is an area where corpus linguistics can fill the gap. In this workshop, teachers can learn to use corpus data to facilitate teaching of naturally occurring English language for word usage and textual discourse. Also, it can facilitate teachers to develop hands-on activities that cater for students at different levels.
