Education Linguistics 2.0 – The Use Of Corpora In Language Teaching won Silver Award at the 47th International Exhibition of Inventions of Geneva held from 10th to 14th April 2019

Educational Linguistics 2.0 is a data-driven approach for language teaching and learning in schools. With an open-access, corpus-aided online portal, this innovative language pedagogy fuses corpus linguistics research tools with classroom teaching.

The principal investigators are Dr. Angel Ma Qing, Dr. Chen Hsueh-Chu, Rebecca, Dr. Lee Fung King, Jackie, and Dr. Wang Lixun.

This is a novel corpus-based language pedagogy to bring new education values to language teaching and learning. Applying corpus resources and research tools to classroom teaching, this innovative pedagogical approach highlights the importance of data-driven learning whereby students learn through inductive discovery of real patterns from authentic language use data. The Corpus-Aided Platform (CAP) for language teachers is set up to offer rich corpus resources, highlight well-designed corpus-based teaching materials, provide principles for designing corpus-based learning and teaching activities, and facilitate information exchange and experience sharing for implementing corpus-based language pedagogy.
