The ACE corpus has been tagged with Part of Speech (PoS) tags. As tagging was done automatically using the ‘Free CLAWS WWW tagger’ (http://ucrel.lancs.ac.uk/claws/trial.html), please be aware that not all tags are accurate at the moment. We will try to manually improve the accuracy later. Using this web concordancer, you may search a word in the ACE corpus according to PoS, and you may define the scope of your search by changing the ‘country’ and ‘category’ options. For example, you can search the word ‘face’ as a verb in the Brunei sub-corpus under the ‘Education’ category.
You may choose to show the PoS tags in the search results by changing ‘Tag Display Off’ to ‘Tag Display On’. You may also choose the concordance length in the range of 20 to 120 characters. Enter a ‘Search Keyword’ and decide on different search options, and press the ‘Search’ button to generate concordance lines. After the concordance lines are shown, you can click on any line to see more contexts. If you would like to make use of the concordance lines, simply copy the lines and paste them in a Word document.
Enjoy using the Web concordance to search the tagged ACE corpus!
